1947.9.30: enroute Parainen - Kemi loaded with cement off Nahkiainen lightship fire in engineroom. The crew of 7 sailors abandoned the ship in two boats. The BOISTÖ exploded in the morning 10.35 and sank. The master Kustaa Candolin, Ist engineer Veikko Nummela and 2nd engineer Leo Törnquist were saved by boat of Nahkiainen. The other boat disappeared. Four crewmemebers were lost: mate Rafael Söderman, carpenter Matti Hytti, deckboy Aarne Vartiala and cook Margit Nurmi. Some debris of the lost lifeboat was found.
