1903.5: HESPERUS, homeport Helsinki. Ångfartygs Ab Finska Lloyd (Ernst Krogius) Helsinki. Trading Le Havre - Montreal. 1914.3.18: Finska Ångfartygs A/B, Helsinki. Mediterranean service. 1917.1.7: British Admiralty requisitioned. Under Red Ensign proceeded with Finnish crew to Port Romanoff (Murmansk). 1917.4.3: enroute Barry Docks - Marseilles loaded with coal and empty iron barrels torpedoed and gunfired by German U46 72 nm WSW of Bishops LH, Scilly Islands. II engineer Matti Hiltunen and donkeyman Oskari Mikkola were killed. The other crew in two lifeboats survived to Brest.
