1974.12.16: enroute Göteborg - Mogadishu with cargo of dynamite wrecked at Skeleton coast, Namib-Naukluft National Park in psn 25.36S 14.52E. 1975.3.27: South African army exploded the wreck. Debris spread in a 5km radius. Today a huge crater and an anchor chain can be seen. (Some internet sources state 700 tons of dynamite cargo that is too much for a 460 dwt ship)

CREW'S TWO HARROWING DAYS.  The eight-man crew of the Singapore-registered freighter United Trader spent two harrowing days on an uninhabited beach in Southwest Africa after the vessel was grounded on Monday. The crew, all Europeans, were then rescued by the South African fisheries vessel Nautilus Two on Wednesday.  According to reports received here, the stranded sailors had to use distress flares to attract the attention of passing vessels and planes.  The United Trader, loaded with 700 tons of explosives was on her way from Gothenburg, Sweden to Mogadishu in Somalia, when she went aground.
